Dream meeting with Tendulkar gets Jaiswal sound advice

The Mumbai teenager also credited Dilip Vengsarkar for his development.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, coming off a superb match-winning century against Sri Lanka for the Indian U-19 team, credited Indian batting legends Sachin Tendulkar and Dilip Vengsarkar for his recent success.

The youngster from Mumbai was dropped after the first two Youth One Day Internationals against the island nation owing to mediocre scores but responded to the disappointment by smashing a brilliant ton to win the closing match and the series for the national team.

It rang of the advice that Sachin Tendulkar, League Ambassador for T20 Mumbai, gave the teenager ahead of the tour.

“Meeting Sachin sir was like a dream come true,” said Jaiswal, who was also gifted a bat during the engagement. “He spoke to me for 40 minutes. He advised me to keep my focus on the game and not to think about the past or the future.”

The North Mumbai Panthers all-rounder also expressed his gratitude for Dilip Vengsarkar, also associated with T20 Mumbai as a League Mentor, for picking him up for a couple of tours to England.

"I'm thankful to Dilip sir, who took me to England when I was just 13,” the young southpaw recalled. “He was always around us to give me his valuable inputs. That trip was very good for me, as I scored a lot of runs and took a good number of wickets on it."
