Rohit Sharma records a first with another massive knock

The Hitman also completed 4000 runs at home in International cricket.

Guwahati's Barsapara Cricket Stadium, which became India's 41st One Day International venue, will always be remembered for Rohit Sharma's majestic 152* against the Windies as it helped India chase down the sizable target of 323 with eight wickets and 47 balls to spare in the opening game of the five-match series.

As the chase ended on Sunday night, Sharma had emerged as the first cricketer to register six 150-plus scores in One Day Internationals. During his marathon knock, he also became the second fastest Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to notch up 4000 runs at home in international cricket.

After India lost an early wicket, Sharma partnered his captain Virat Kohli in scoring 246 handsome runs. The Hitman, after a cautious start, soon blazed the inexperienced bowling attack to bring up his 20th ODI ton, his first against the Windies and eighth at home.

"We knew it's all about one partnership. And life isn't difficult when Rohit is at the other end," Kohli said. "I've always enjoyed batting with him."

On a batting paradise, Sharma started playing second fiddle to Kohli and scored his first fifty runs in 51 deliveries but once set, he took just 66 balls to score the rest 102 runs. With 15 fours and 8 sixes, Sharma scored 71 percent of runs through boundaries.
