Know your team: SoBo SuperSonics

Last season’s table toppers from the group stages look destined to repeat this year after a successful auction.

Areas Covered

The SoBo SuperSonics represent the suburbs of the Mumbai South constituency which includes Worli, Sewri, Byculla, Malabar Hill, Mumbadevi and Colaba.

Key Players

SoBo Supersonics used their retention opportunities to ensure that young opener Jay Bista and all-rounder Dhrumil Matkar stayed put at their franchise. They also brought back last season’s joint leading wicket-taker Badrey Alam and star performer Rohan Raje.

“Jay is very young and dynamic; and I believe he will do very well. Dhrumil has been really good as well if you see his past six months’ performance along with being a really good finisher,” said team owner Gurmeet Singh on his retained players.

Apart from that, the SoBo Supersonics splashed the cash on a few experienced campaigners like Yogesh Takawale and Parag Khanapurkar to maintain a steady team balance, while also picking up the hard-hitting batsman Hersh Tank.

Logo Explained

The SoBo SuperSonics decided to embody everything iconic that represents the city of Mumbai like the Gateway of India and the cricket bats. “We had an in-house team of designers who are very creative and helped bring to life this concept,” explained Singh.

With a good blend of youth and experience, the SoBo SuperSonics would be confident of making the playoffs for a second successive season; and this time go one better after a solid showing at the auction.
