The Knights look to triumph while league’s new boys face each other

Day three kicks off with Triumph Knights playing SoBo SuperSonics, with Aakash Tigers and Eagle Strikers squaring up in the evening.

After two days of the second season of T20 Mumbai, the league tables are beginning to take shape with all four sides coming into their games on Thursday having already played once in the league. The afternoon fixtures sees the reigning champions Triumph Knights Mumbai North East take on SoBo SuperSonics, while the fixture under floodlights will witness the new teams Eagle Thane Strikers and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs face off.

Here is what to expect from those two games.

Takkar No. 1: Triumph Knights Mumbai North East vs SoBo SuperSonics

Despite a valiant effort by their captain Suryakumar Yadav, the Triumph Knights ended up second best in a thrilling contest on opening day. Heading into their second game, the reigning champs would be hoping for their other batsmen like Akash Parkar and Sumit Ghadigaonkar to step up if they are to get their first win on the board. On the bowling front, they seem to be covered with their spinners Vinayak Bhoir and Parikshit Valsangkar having a good game on Tuesday, however pacer Royston Dias would be hopeful for an improvement from his previous performance.

SoBo SuperSonics put on a clinical performance on day one, registering a prolific 48-run victory over ARCS Andheri. Their star performer Parag Khanapurkar, who got 96 in their opening game, would be confident of carrying on his good form heading into his second match. Their captain Jay Bista and ace bowler Dhrumil Matkar also made good starts to their 2019 T20 Mumbai campaigns. Heading into Thursday, the team would just hope for their top wicket-taker from last year, Badrey Alam to fire on all cylinders after an expensive outing against the ARCS.

Kya Bolta Hai

SoBo SuperSonics looked like they had all their bases covered when they played their opening match. However, if the Triumph Knights bowlers can dismiss their top three quickly, their batting firepower should be enough to see them emerge victorious.

Takkar No. 2: Eagle Thane Strikers vs Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs

After a triumphant start to their T20 Mumbai campaign, Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs will be looking to replicate their result against the other newbies Eagle Thane Strikers. On the bowling front, they seem solid with both Dhawal Kulkarni and Arjun Tendulkar making strong debuts. Their batsman all contributed in their chase against Triumph Knights, especially Aakarshit Gomel who scored a match-winning 42 on Tuesday. Even the likes of Kaustubh Pawar and Subramaniam Doraiswamy seem to be in good touch heading into their second game.

The Eagle Thane Strikers fought valiantly in their opener by fell six runs short of victory. Their captain Aditya Tare led from the front, scoring a brilliant 71 while Kaushik Chikhalikar also nabbed a stylish fifty. The Strikers though would expect more from Sarfaraz Khan and Alpesh Ramjani heading into their second game. On the bowling front, they will be buoyed by the possible debut of Shardul Thakur who performed admirably in the Indian Premier league. Sagar Mishra and Ankush Jaiswal are the other bowlers the Eagles would be banking on to soar high in their debut campaign.

Kya Bolta Hai

If the Eagles’ batsman can ward off the early pressure created by Kulkarni and Tendulkar, they can stay in the hunt and potentially beat the Tigers with their experienced bowling line-up.
