An all-round performance from Yashasvi Jaiswal helped India Under-19s seal a comprehensive nine-wicket victory against Afghanistan Under-19s in the first of three Youth ODIs at the Ekana B ground in Lucknow on Friday.

Put in to bat first, Yashasvi Jaiswal first struck with the ball in the 27th over to send back Rahmanullah as Afghanistan U19 tried to recover from the regular fall of wickets. But their fall continued with the 17-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal picking up the final wicket to wrap up the innings for 171 early in the 48th over.

He ended up with figures of 2/18 in 7.1 overs although Ravi Bishnoi and Atharva Ankoleka did the bulk of the damage with three wickets apiece.

In response, India U19 began their chase with a bang with the opening partnership producing 95 runs, ending in the 15th over. Opener Arjun Azad had contributed only 29 runs in the stand as Yashasvi Jaiswal blazed away at the other end with the teenager bringing up his fifty in just 39 balls.

When Tilak Varma came to the crease, he let Yashasvi Jaiswal continue to plunder runs. The duo put on an unbeaten 77 for the second wicket, Varma making 29 of those, and took the team home with nine wickets and just under 23 overs to spare.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, a North Mumbai Panthers pick in T20 Mumbai, scored 108* in just 83 balls with his innings laced with 16 fours and 4 sixes.

The next match in the series will be played on Sunday.
