Jaiswal emerges as Man of the Tournament in Under-19s Asia Cup

With 318 runs in four matches, Yashasvi Jaiswal was the highest run-getter in the tournament.

For his metronomic performances, Yashasvi Jaiswal was named as the player of the tournament in the recently concluded Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup with the Mumbai teenager capping off the tournament with a fine knock in the final as well.

Opening the innings, Jaiswal scored 85 runs with 8 fours and a maximum, pulling left-arm spinner Dushith Wellalage to deep mid-wicket, and along with Anuj Rawat crafted a 121-run stand for the opening wicket in the Under-19s Asia Cup final in Dhaka on Sunday. He then put on 59 for the second wicket Devdutt Padikkal before departing in the 38th over.

It laid the foundation for the India Under-19s to put on a competitive total of 304/3 with the North Mumbai Panthers star emerging as the top scorer in the match. Sri Lanka Under-19s were bundled out 160, handing the Indian team a 144-run victory.

The southpaw had scores of 104, 92, 37 and 85 in the four matches he played in the Youth Asia Cup, his 318 runs coming at an average of 79.50, and was the highest run-getter in the tournament. He top scored in the match on three occasions, top scored for his side in the other and earned two Man of the Match awards.
