Prithvi Shaw reveals his all-time favourite shot yet

The boundary he hit off pacer Badre Alam has stuck with the North Mumbai Panthers skipper.

Prithvi Shaw has belted well over 600 fours in all cricket and smashed just over 100 sixes but there’s one particular shot that stands out for the young Indian cricketer.

From his huge arsenal of drives and strokes, the Mumbaikar chose the cover drive as the shot he cherishes the most, specifically, the one he played in the high-octane final of T20 Mumbai’s second season.

“In the MPL final… between mid-off and covers. I loved that shot,” revealed Shaw, in an interview with Cricbuzz, when asked about the best one he had executed off the bat.

In the title-winning match between North Mumbai Panthers and SoBo SuperSonics, the skipper unleashed a textbook-perfect cover drive off a Badrey Alam delivery that swiftly raced towards the boundary, leaving behind the sprinting fielder Jay Bista.

In an elegant display of his technical prowess, Shaw, channelling the power from his shoulder to his wrists, punched the ball right from the middle of his willow to send it darting onto the boundary line, through the gap.

The captain led by example with an unbeaten 61, smashing three boundaries and two sixes along the way, as North Mumbai Panthers piled up 143 for 7 on the scoreboard.

Eventually, the total proved unattainable for the SoBo SuperSonics as they bundled out for 131, following impressive bowling performances by Atif Attarwala and Prathamesh Dake.

Prithvi Shaw led the North Mumbai Panthers to their maiden T20 Mumbai trophy.

He not only played an integral knock in the final but also finished as the highest run-getter of the league, amassing 249 runs in six games at an average of almost 50.

The youngster took home the Man of the Series award for his mindful captaincy and excellent batting display throughout the campaign.
