While defending a modest 247, before the heavy rains came down, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Hyderabad had already been wrecked by the ‘Shaw’ storm. In his 57-minute stay at the crease, Prithvi Shaw’s audacious shot selection fetched him eight fours and two sixes in his exciting 44-balls 61, at a strike-rate of 138 that made a mockery of the run-chase.

Shaw’s blitzkrieg was followed by captain Shreyas Iyer’s surgical 55, which also featured some big hits as dark clouds zeroed in towards the stadium. As torrential rains prevented further play, Mumbai were declared the winners by 60 runs using the VJD method. Iyer scored five fours and a couple of maximums in his unbroken 73-run-stand with Ajinkya Rahane who finished with 17 not out.

After Hyderabad had won the toss and decided to have a bat, fast bowler Tushar Deshpande continued his fine-form and got rid of the openers in his first spell.
RoystonDias then got the prized scalp of Ambati Rayudu. The Shivaji Park Lions’ speedster bowled well along with his ARCS Andheri counterpart, and grabbed five wickets among themselves.
