Top Performers: Jaiswal picks a hat-trick while Royston rocks SoBo

The batsmen took all the plaudits on Wednesday, but it was the bowlers who dominated on Day 4.

While T20 Mumbai Season 2 has seen a host of high-quality batting efforts through the opening three days, the bowlers made their mark in a big way in each of the two games on Thursday. Here, we take a look at the best of Day 4:

Dias’ destructive display against the SuperSonics

Chasing 144, the SoBo Supersonics were off to the perfect start, smashing 38 off the first four overs, giving them the perfect springboard for their chase and putting the Triumph Knights under immense pressure early in the innings.

Needing a wicket, captain Suryakumar Yadav brought on Royston Dias into the attack and the pacer delivered on his very first ball, getting the prized wicket of Jay Bista with a brilliant delivery that shaped away slightly, clipping the edge of the skipper’s willow and going straight into the hands of the keeper. Dias picked up another crucial wicket in the 17th before bowling a magnificent 19th over where he gave away just five runs and dismissed Karan More for his third scalp of the night. A brilliant performance from the speedster, whose spell kept his team alive in the contest right up its closing stages.

Jaiswal does the ‘trick’ for the Strikers

A hat-trick in a T20 contest is as rare a sight as they come, but thanks to Ankush Jaiswal the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium had to opportunity to witness one. Jaiswal came into the attack right after the powerplay and bowled two tight overs, giving away just 12 runs, halting the Tigers’ batting momentum. He gave away just five runs in the first four deliveries of his subsequent over, prompting Tendulkar to have a go at his flighted delivery which he ended up edging on to his stump.

On his very delivery, Jaiswal pushed the ball a little quicker through the air, missing new man Siddharth Akre’s bat completely and catching his pads right in line with the stumps to get his second of the night. Jaiswal had to wait three overs to bowl his hat-trick ball, but when he finally came back into the attack, he bowled a perfect delivery to Dhawal Kulkarni to catch him on his pads as well and complete his hat-trick. For his effort, Jaiswal was awarded the man of the match.
